My passion for photography started 30 years ago when I left school and decided to do a course on nude and glamour photography. Photography then became my hobby but finding a job and earning a living came first.
My passion for photography never swayed and 20 years later a trip to the Sabi Sands at a private game lodge called Arathusa Safari Lodge changed my life.
I immediately went out and bought myself a Canon camera and lens suitable for wildlife photography. The passion was back and photographing leopards became an obsession of mine. I started taking groups of wildlife photographers on Safari’s to the Sabi Sands and the guests kept on asking me where they could rent equipment from, or if they could borrow mine.
I started the business with six lenses and no cameras, hence the name of the business. We now have well over a 150 different items of stock ranging from the latest Nikon and Canon cameras and Lenses.
I thought running the business would be very simple; I would convert my garage into an office and customers would fetch the equipment on a Friday and return the following Monday, very quick and simple. Never in my wildest dreams did I think for a second it would become a 24/7 business having five staff members; Siobhan, Genna, Jane, Gary and myself and an office at 135 Daisy Street – Daisy Street Office Park, Sandton.
Growing the business was always a priority of mine and that’s when I decided to bring in my partner Gary Drieband to run the Nikon side of the business. Ironically Gary was one of the guests who joined me on the Safari’s 10 years before.
Together we have grown the business to be one of the leading rental companies in Johannesburg.
We couldn’t have done this without all our loyal customers who have been with us for many years and hopefully many more years to come. You’re loyalty and patronage is greatly appreciated.
Gary and I are committed to bring the best service and latest stock with unrivaled pricing to help you focus on your goals.
The journey continues.
